The University of Montevallo board of trustees and its choice for the school's presidency, John Stewart, have agreed on a $300,000-a-year, five-year contract.
The board voted earlier this afternoon to offer the presidency to Stewart, who is vice president for institutional advancement at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.
Stewart, who holds a doctorate in English from the University of Southern Mississippi, told the board today he has extensive experience in fundraising and will put that to use as UM's president.
