The University of Montevallo baseball team (6-16) fell on the road to the University of Alabama-Huntsville (12-5) 7-6 in 10 innings. The Chargers were able to load the bases in the tenth and a walk allowed the go ahead run to be scored with two outs. UM was led by senior Chris Sosebee (Warrior, Ala./Sumiton Christian) who went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI.

Freshman Austin Dubberly (Helena, Ala./Pelham) led the team in RBIs with two. Senior Nelson Garcia, Jr. (Tampa, Fla./Sickles) and sophomore Josh Headley (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale) each picked up an RBI in the game as well. Juniors Joe Prokop (Verbena, Ala./Chilton County) and Scottie Deason (Hoover, Ala./Spain Park) had the Falcons lone extra base hits as they each had a double. Deason was also 2-for-2 on the base paths as he swiped a pair of bases.

Senior Justin Aaron (Morris, Ala./Mortimer Jordan) got the start on the mound as he went 4.2 innings with no walks or strikeouts. Sophomore Wes Rich (Pelham, Ala./Pelham) pitched the next 0.1 inning without giving up a hit or walk. Junior Cameron Sokalski (Delta, British Columbia/North Delta) took over for the next 3.2 innings while striking out two and walking one. Senior Kyle Johanson (Bowman, Ga./Elbert County) pitched the next 0.1 inning and took home the loss as he walked one and gave up one hit. The final pitcher was sophomore Brett Roney (Wetumpka, Ala./Wetumpka) who pitched 0.2 innings and walked a pair.

The Falcons jumped out to the early lead as they scored three runs in the first and two runs in the second. Sophomore Duston Daugherty (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) led off the game with a walk and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Deason. Deason was able to reach first due to an error by the pitcher. The pair used a double steal to take third and second. Dubberly then sent a sacrifice fly to centerfield which scored Daugherty. Sosebee then drew a walk and used a double steal with Deason to advance to second. Deason used another UAH error to score as the catcher misplayed his throw on the steal. The third and final run came when Sosbee advanced to third on a wild pitch and then was driven home by a Garcia, Jr. single.

In the second Prokop opened the inning with a double to left field. Daugherty then singled to right centerfield. Dubberly drove home Prokop on a single through the left side and then a Sosebee single brought home Deason who had reached on a fielder's choice.

The Falcons sixth run came in the fifth as Headley singled to right field to bring home Garcia, Jr. who had reached on an error.

Down 6-0 the Chargers scored 7 unanswered runs to capture the victory. They scored five runs in the fifth and then tied the game in the seventh and finished off the rally with a walk-off walk in the 10th.

The Falcons will return to action Friday, March 12 at 3 p.m. as they take on Columbus State University in Peach Belt Conference action.
